The tour came to an end here in central FL at the gorgeous Hard Rock Live, Orlando. The band made their last stop in Central Florida and went out on the highest of notes, a SOLD OUT show.
As with any tour, I’m sure they were road weary and looking forward to their own beds soon, but no one could tell, as they poured what musically remained in their souls out to the audience and left it all on the stage.Slash, a man a few words, only took the mic to greet and say hi to the audience once or twice with band intros and the like, but we all know he’s a shy one to a point which he more than makes up for in musicianship! I swear he must have guitar strings for veins!
I spotted Myles’ band mate, Mark Tremonti of Alterbridge, in attendance, as he lives in the area. Left me to wonder if we would have a guest appearance on the stage, but sadly not. Although, Alterbridge WILL be touring soon with a 2-night stop in the Orlando area.
Hard Rock Live is the sturdiest of buildings but this night we felt the floor pounding to the beat of the crowd stomping and jumping. The band played an extended setlist including 21 songs which highlighted a couple stellar drum solos, vocals from Todd Kerns, and a couple of the longest guitar solos from the master himself, Slash, that I’ve ever witnessed from any guitar player short of an instrumental act. Many songs from the newest album release, ‘Living the Dream’, were heard such as ‘The Call of the Wild’ & ‘My Antidote’ with the crowd favorites at the end of the set, ‘You’re a Lie’, ‘World on Fire’, & ‘Anastasia’. Among the Slash songs heard were ‘Back to Cali’ & ‘By the Sword’ with just one Guns N’ Roses tune, my favorite, ‘Nightrain’.
Speaking of GnR, they have an upcoming stop in Florida so we have more opportunities to see these talented players again very soon. We hope to see you there!
